Support our Mission
Our mission is to empower individuals to break free from the cycle of violence and abuse. By providing a safe and supportive environment with essential services, advocacy, and holistic programs, we aim to inspire hope, promote healing, and provide the tools for individuals to shape their own futures.
I’m worried about someone
Your support can be
a steady place.
You do not need to have every answer. Listening without judgment, respecting their choices, and helping them connect to support can make a meaningful difference.
If there may be immediate danger
Safety comes first.
If someone is in immediate danger or needs emergency medical help, call 911. If it is safe to do so, ask the person what they need and avoid taking actions that could increase risk.
How to help
Follow their lead.
Stay connected.
People know their own lives best. Your role is not to rescue or decide for them—it is to make support easier to reach.
Choose a safe moment
Talk privately when the person they are worried about is not present and when messages or conversations are unlikely to be monitored.
Name what you notice
Use calm, specific language: “I’ve noticed you seem worried lately. I care about you. Is there anything you want to talk about?”
Listen and believe
Thank them for telling you. Avoid questioning why they stayed, what they did, or whether the situation is “bad enough.”
Offer choices
Ask, “What would feel helpful?” Offer to sit with them while they call, find information, arrange transportation, or make a safety plan.
Protect privacy
Do not share their story without permission unless there is an immediate safety concern or a legal reporting responsibility applies.
Keep showing up
Leaving or changing a situation can take time. Continue to check in without pressure, even if they are not ready to act.
Words that help
Start with care,
not pressure.
“I believe you.”
“This is not your fault.”
“You deserve to feel safe.”
“You get to decide what happens next.”
“Why don’t you just leave?”
“I would never put up with that.”
“You have to report this.”
“If you go back, I can’t help you.”
A safer next step
Help them think through options—without creating a plan for them.
A trained advocate can help consider communication safety, important documents, children or pets, transportation, medical needs, housing, and other practical concerns.
You can call for guidance even if the person you are worried about is not ready to call.
You do not have to do this alone.
Someone is here to help you
support the person you care about.
Current Sponsors
At ECLI-VIBES, we are proud to work alongside dedicated partners who share our vision of a safer, healthier, and more compassionate community.
