It’s a Violationship.

You’re worth so much more than this, and you’re not alone. If you feel like you’re in a situation like this, we’re here to help you get out.

It can be hard to see a Violationship for what it is, especially if you’re the one in it. And that’s never your fault.

Some signs are early warnings of manipulation. Some are illegal acts made against you. We’ll help you identify the red flags you should watch for to determine if you’re at risk.

SIGNS OF A VIOLATIONSHIP

  • If they shower you with gifts or love bomb you early in your relationship.

  • If they restrict or deny your contact with friends or family, or attempt to isolate you from your social group.

  • If they force you to do something you are uncomfortable with by giving you something of emotional, practical or monetary value in exchange.

  • If they give you gifts for good behavior, and punish you for disobeying them.

  • If they demand your phone passcode, logins, or track your location to monitor your activity.

  • If they ask you to do unsafe and illegal things for them and their own gain.

  • If they insist on you moving in with them before you feel ready, then monitor your every move.

  • If they don’t allow you to speak for yourself, make everything your fault, and tell you you’re no good without them.

  • If they display signs and characteristics of a dangerous person, like exhibiting extreme jealousy and lashing out often.

You deserve a better life. And a way to get there.

No matter how stuck and alone you may feel, you’re not. We’ve helped countless survivors see that they’re in bad situations, get them out of danger, and reclaim control over their own lives. We can do the same for you.

We are the Suffolk County Anti-Trafficking Initiative (SCATI). Co-founded by the Suffolk County Police Department and ECLI-VIBES, we work collaboratively with community stakeholders committed to supporting survivors of sexual exploitation and labor trafficking through trauma-informed, survivor-centered care.
