But the resources that make this work possible are changing. As government funding for victim services declines, community support is more important than ever.

Dari Schwartz Bookamer Memorial Fund

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program for Suffolk County was established by Dari Schwartz-Bookamer and her coworker, Emily Constant. Dari, the former chief of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, devoted her life to advocating for victims of violence and abuse. She was passionate about providing safe, professional, and trauma-informed care for victims and survivors of sexual assault. This fund was established to provide ongoing support for the SAFE program

Meghan Kiefer Memorial Fund

On October 23, 2021 Meghan’s life was tragically cut short by domestic violence. Her mother, Bevin, has become a strong voice in our agency and beyond, advocating for greater protections for victims of domestic violence. Donations to this fund go specifically to help victims of domestic violence. Bevin sat down recently with the NYS Office of Prevention of Domestic Violence to share Meghan’s story.
